Bains Minibus Category D1

A Minibus is up to 16 passenger seats also known as PCV.
You need to be at least 18 years old to obtain this licence. You will need to have a medical so you can apply for the provisional entitlement on your licence.
You need to complete two theory tests; a multiple choice and a hazard perception
CPC Theory Test and CPC Demonstration Test
Sit practical tests
Once you have obtained your Cat D1 licence you will then be able to apply for your Cat D1+E or your Cat D (Coach / Bus licence).
After passing your Cat D1 test either you or the DVSA examiner will post your licence along with a copy of your pass certificate to the DVSA. When your licence is returned to you, the provisional entitlement for the D1+E (D1E) will automatically show online. You do not have to sit another theory test for the D1+E.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my training take?

We will carry out an assessment and that will determine your bespoke training package. The end-to-end training processes normally takes up to 6 weeks.

What is the difference between D and D1?

Category D you can drive any bus with more than 8 passenger seats and with a trailer up to 750kg.

Category D1 you can drive vehicles with no more than 16 passenger seats, and it has to be a maximum length of 8 metres and a trailer up to 750kg.
